In July this year, the Division Bench of High Court had asked the Margao municipal council not to issue any fresh construction licence till the date of next hearing regarding the Sonsoddo garbage dump site.

During the last hearing, the Goa waste Management Corporation (GWMC) had filed a status report in the Court stating that it had started transporting 20 MT of wet waste from the Sonsoddo garbage dump site to the Cacora Solid Waste Management (SWM) facility on a daily basis from September 1.

On the other hand, the Margao Municipal Council has also issued necessary work orders to install fire hydrants at the Sonsoddo site.
