PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa will on November 20 issue directions into the garbage disposal matter as it observed that if garbage treatment plants with good technology are set up, people would not oppose it.
The observation comes at a time when the villagers of Saligao are opposing the extension of the garbage treatment plant and the Sonsodo dumping site continues to be an issue.
The bench, while hearing a suo motu writ petition on Wednesday, stated that people are strongly opposing the plants and it believes if these are set up with good technology, people will understand its benefit and not oppose it.
The Goa State Pollution Control Board assured the High Court that it will take a fruitful decision in the upcoming meeting to ensure the project does not come under any criticism. The court adjourned the matter for directions on Novemebr 20.
