A debate titled debate titled: Does government Ordinance have hidden intentions? hosted by Juino De Souza will be telecast on Sunday (today) March 8, at 10 am and features Secretary of Goa Foundation, Dr Claude Alvares, ex-MLA, Mathany Saldanha, Secretary General of UGDP, Adv Anacleto Viegas, Social Activist, Adv Mike Mehta, Joint Secretary, GBA, Miguel Braganza and Adv Prithvi Bandekar.
Other issues to be debated are: Is there a hidden agenda for hurriedly bringing the Ordinance? Can the ‘Land Acquisition Act, 1894’ which is a Central Act be amended retrospectively by a State Ordinance without prior assent of the President of India? Why does the ordinance carry provisions to pre-empt a citizen from taking legal recourse? Why are MLAs and political party leaders all silent on the issue? Is the plea from the hotel employees to save them from loosing their jobs justified? What about the 8500 houses who are facing demolition because of CRZ violations?
