MARGAO: The Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has alleged that the bureaucracy of the Health Department is attempting to sabotage the operations of the Goa Medical College in a fast track mode.
The Congress MLA Lourenco has alleged that Sudhir Mahajan, Secretary, Health Department, has gone ahead on a fast track mode to transfer the entire organ transplant facility of the GMC to a Panjim-based private hospital.
Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said, “I want the Health Minister to stop this sabotage and save the GMC from its decline,” said Reginaldo.
He informed that the Organ Transplant division of the GMC has had no HOD for an alarming period. “They planned and removed the doctor so that they shut the department and and the doctor now goes to a Private Hospital” alleged Reginaldo.
“This is a plan to sabotage the GMC and the Government has to stop this. If not, it will be the biggest scam of this government and there will be scams of organ transplants,” said Reginaldo Lourenco .
“We are totally against this. I have informed the Minister and will write to him. More over it is important that the GMC restarts the operation of Transplant division with full transparency. Put GMC in order and we, the Opposition, will back this positive move,” said Congress MLA Reginaldo.
Warning of a legal backlash, the MLA said he is in touch with the legal fraternity to take deal with this matter if the Government doesn’t budge.
