PONDA: Health Department on Wednesday once again conducted inspection of 52 houses at Curti-Deepanagar, over human waste disposal in the open, apparently by migrants. Health Officer Dr Smitha Parsekar, along with local Sandeep Parkar, inspected the houses.
The inspection was conducted following a complaint by Parkar.
Parkar in his complaint claimed that the waste disposed in the open at the roadside is posing risk of disease including dengue. It was for the second time he has filed such a complaint. Earlier, two inspections were done. Few house owners have constructed soak pits.
Parkar further claimed that PWD should take stern action against the violators. Parkar said following the inspection around seven house owners pleaded with PWD for seven days time to construct soak pit. He said there were dengue cases in this area in past and after his complaint it is under control.
Health Department doctor Smitha Parsekar said, “It is also the role of PWD, panchayat and panch members to create awareness so that locals do not release waste in the open”.
“The Health Department warned the locals not to release waste in the open and also asked house owners to maintain proper cleanliness and construct soak pits so as to keep away dengue and other disease and for better health”, she added.
