Amidst rising complaints regarding sewage and pool water being discharged on the sea by the renowned W Goa Hotel on Vagator Beach, the Health Department of Siolim conducted an inspection on the site. On Friday the health department along with concerned officials inspected the site and assured the Vagator locals that the department will conduct water tests on Monday, to check if the released water or sewerage water if from the hotel.
Upon receiving a complaint from a Vagator local, the health department officers from Siolim came to check the site as per the complaint. As per the complaint given by the complainant Jawish Moniz, the W Goa Hotel located on Vagator Beach has been releasing swimming pool water and sewerage water into the beach illegally. This has caused significant damage to the ecosystem on the beach. Jawish had raised this issue several times in the past but after numerous complaints and shedding light on this matter, the Health Department authorities came to the beach for site checking.
Jawish claims that whenever a health officer comes to the beach for an inspection the hotel management halts the release of the waste water. The officer took notes and evidence of the site and assured Jawish that the department would return on Monday to test the water with the proper types of equipment.
