MARGAO: Health hazard issue at Kargil in Curtorim once again dominated the village panchayat gram, besides farmers urging the panchayat body to submit suggestions on draft agricultural policy on their behalf.
Initially, villagers took on task the panchayat body over the issue of adjourned gram sabha for not serving the notices on time. However, Caitano Hilario, accepted his mistake and assured the villagers that these errors would not be repeated.
Villagers expressed serious concern about the alleged health hazard at Kargil area located in the Curtorim village and took on the panchayat for not initiating action to prevent sewage water from flowing on the road and public gutters.
Gram Sabha member Moreno Rebello said the drains were only meant storm water. Later, it was decided to consult the expert for the solution for which the panchayat body asked for one month time.
Several farmers present at the meeting raised the issue pertaining to the draft agricultural policy and demanded that their bundhs need to be strengthened and lakes to be protected.
Sarpanch Hilario, upon the request of the farming community decided that the panchayat will file suggestions on the draft agricultural policy on behalf of farmers.
Few farmers including J Santano Rodrigues also spoke on the draft agricultural policy and presented their view, besides requests.
Michelle Rebello, ZP member and villagers in large numbers attended the gram sabha, which was adjourned due to not serving meeting notices on time.
