PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane convened a review meeting at Goa Medical College (GMC) to address all the issues and assess the current status. All the nodal officers and GMC Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar were present for the same.
“We are working on further improving our protocols to ensure we fight this virus head-on,” said Rane.
The Health Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Indian Army and Colonel Sumit Kumar for personally delivering 100 bullnose fittings to GMC in the presence of Dean Dr Bandekar, Nodal Officer Dr Viraj Khandeparkar, Dr Ajit Nagarsekar, Dr Jagdish Cacodkar, Dr Anar Khandeparkar and Dr Uday Cacodkar.
Rane also sent a message to the public informing them of what they can do if any hospital refuses admission to COVID patients.
“Request you to send an email to the Director of Health Services at directorhealth_goa@yahoo.co.in and Health Secretary at secyga.goa@gov.in to initiate action,” said Rane.
He emphasised that the State government has instructed all private hospitals to admit patients with not only mild and moderate cases, but to also take up critical patients.
“To ensure all patients are delivered the required healthcare and facilities, Private Hospitals will now be taking up critical cases along with mild & moderate cases. Denial of admission will lead to strict action against the hospital,” said Rane.
The Health Minister also referred to the inauguration of the Dialysis unit of Community Health Centre (CHC) Bicholim and urged patients in Bicholim and neighbouring areas to make great use of this free of cost facility and register themselves.
He pointed out that the unit at CHC Bicholim is the 10th centre in the State and added that it is part of the initiative to start Dialysis centres in different parts of Goa in keeping with their efforts to provide the best healthcare services.
“From a single centre at GMC, we have now increased the number to 10 centres. We shall further work towards adding 5 more centres shortly,” said Rane.
