PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that there is a need to frame a policy for bringing Goan doctors working abroad or in other parts of the country.
“It is very difficult to get experts. There is a need to frame a policy which attracts doctors. If infrastructure is created and they are provided required facilities then it is possible that they will come back. They can come back and serve the people of Goa,” he told reporters.
On Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho’s request to appoint staff at the Sub-District Hospital at Chicalim, Rane said the file for the appointment of staff at the hospital is with the Administrative Reforms Department (ARD) and suggested Godinho to follow up the issue with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
“The proposal is with the ARD. Have discussed with the Chief Minister and will request Mauvin Godinho to follow the matter with the Chief Minister. Till there is a permanent post, there can be appointment of contractual staff. I will move the file as per the direction of the chief minister,” Rane said.
Recently, a six-year-old girl died due to a suspected case of dengue at the Sub-District Hospital at Chicalim.
