PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Tuesday said he did not have “so much staff” to be present everywhere to check the fish entering Goa is formalin-free, but quickly countered saying that proper checks are conducted at the borders and in markets.
When questioned by media persons outside the Goa Legislative Assembly on the fish entering the State by rail, Rane said, “The fish we are getting is completely safe and the issue of Formalin does not exist anymore. Fish entering the borders is checked. We also conduct random checks in the market.”
He also said if someone has any question, there are authorised dealers selling kits to conduct independent checking.
Rane also informed that not a single sample has tested positive for Formalin and that people should not live in fear.
