Bengaluru-based data scientist Suchana Seth’s case has taken a new turn as her father, Joy Gopal Seth, has approached the Goa Children’s Court requesting an examination of her mental condition. This comes weeks after Suchana allegedly killed her four-year-old son in Goa. The court has adjourned the hearing to February 21, 2024, to reevaluate Suchana’s mental health following her father’s plea. Until then, Suchana will remain in custody until February 26, 2024.
Suchana’s arrest occurred in Karnataka while she was attempting to flee in a taxi from a service apartment in Sinquerim, Goa. The taxi driver, Royjohn D’Souza, played a crucial role in assisting Goa Police, leading to her arrest by the Chitradurga Police. The motive behind the alleged murder remains unclear, but during interrogation, Suchana disclosed details about her strained relationship with her husband, from whom she is currently separated.

She cited familial discord and ongoing divorce proceedings as contributing factors to the tragic incident. Additionally, Suchana expressed dissatisfaction with a court order allowing her estranged husband to visit their son every Sunday. However, according to the Calangute Police, no serious mental health issues or psychological problems were found in Suchana Seth’s assessment. They noted that she provided accurate and justified answers, displaying no signs of suicidal tendencies.
