PANJIM: The Special Court established under the Prevention of Corruption Act has for the second time adjourned hearing in the disproportionate assets complaint against Goa Assembly Speaker Rajendra Arlekar to February 20.
When the matter came up for hearing on Thursday, Superintendent of anti corruption branch Bosco George sought time to file its reply before the court since the proposal for appointing a special counsel is presently under the consideration of the government. Judge Anuja Prabhudessai had now adjourned the hearing to February 20.
The ACB has submitted a proposal for a special counsel to government after seeking its first adjournment on Tuesday.
Adv Aires Rodrigues moved the Court seeking to direct the ACB to register FIR against Arlekar on his complaint over the purchase of Rs 72 lakh plot at Porvorim by Arlekar.
, alleging it was disproportionate to the Speakers’ last known sources of income. Arlekar has however denied the allegations and threatened to sue him for making false complaints.
