PANJIM: A 52-year-old heart patient died in an ambulance when the emergency vehicle rammed into a truck at Bambolim early Thursday morning. The 108 ambulance, attached with Betki Primary Health Centre, was transporting the patient from Cumbarjua to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) when the incident occurred.
The patient sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot while two other persons in the ambulance were injured.
“The ambulance hit the truck on the Bambolim slope at around 6.30 am. The truck driver escaped, while the patient in the ambulance died due to head injuries. Two others who were accompanying the patient have been admitted in the hospital for injuries,” a police official said. More details are awaited as investigation is underway.
