Panjim: During the first
day of the monsoon session, there was a heated discussion over the free water
policy (Zero water bill until 16 MLD)
for all the people in Goa. Some members of the house highlighted that several
people received huge bills even if they consumed less water, Some MLA’s also
alleged that people have received water bills from Rs 5000 to even Rs 15000.
However Chief Minister said that he along with the PWD department will look
into the matter and setup an inquiry and solve this issue on priority
It was Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa who raised this issue in the house on
Tuesday, wherein other MLAs like Vijai, Anton, Venzy and Cruz who add on the
similar incidents faced by the people in their respective constituency.
Meanwhile, it was Altone D’Costa who urged the PWD department to takeout the
water meters if this issue is not solved on priority. However Chief Minister
said that those who received these exorbitant bills may submit the same to the
department wherein their issue will be solved.
