Margao MLA Digambar Kamat recently voiced serious concerns about the functioning of the Electricity Department during a session at the House. He drew attention to the alarming fact that nearly 20% of the department’s positions are currently vacant, raising doubts about its ability to operate effectively with such a significant staff shortage.
Addressing the issue, Goa Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar assured the House and the public that immediate action is being taken to resolve the staffing problem. The Minister announced that the responsibility of filling these vacant posts will be entrusted to the Staff Selection Commission. He expressed confidence that the Commission will expedite the recruitment process, ensuring that the vacancies are filled within a short span of two months.
