PANJIM: Even as the summer temperatures soared in the past week, heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms lashed the capital city on Saturday early morning. The showers however brought temporary relief from the discomforting humidity.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rains and thundershowers in parts of Goa over the next two days.  IMD Goa observatory in-charge K V Singh said that the sudden rainfall was the result of increased humidity in the atmosphere for the last two days. The humidity has been varying between 75 to 80 per cent for last few days, much above normal.
“A trough has developed along Chhattisgarh-Karnataka, which got rains. The situation will persist for at least next two days,” Singh said. The sudden rain managed to bring down the temperature to normal, which was much above normal for last few weeks.
