PONDA: The deputy collector of Karwar, Karnataka has issued an order to restrict the heavy vehicular traffic in Anmod Ghat section which falls on Goa-Belgaum national highway, from January 5 to 25. Therefore, only four-wheelers and two-wheelers will be allowed to pass via Ghat from tomorrow. The order has cited double-tracking of railway lines as the reason behind banning heavy traffic from the region.
As per the sources, the ban could be extended depending upon the progress of the work. Two-wheelers, cars and other small vehicles have been provided alternate routes to go to Anmod from Ramnagar via Tinai Ghat, Marsangal, Castle Rock, Chandewadi and Jagalbet, etc. Heavy vehicles will be diverted from Alnavar, Haliyal and Yellapur route.
