Height barrier at Gaundalim bridge proves dangerous

PONDA: The height barrier at Gaundalim bridge was debated at the Betki Khandola gram sabha on Sunday as it had turned dangerous for vehicles. Villagers said that three accidents were reported at the place during the last six months and a driver was killed on the spot in one such accident.

Locals have now demanded that the PWD and panchayat  take  urgent  safety measures to save life and property and demanded for safety measures at the site. Sarpanch Vishant Naik assured the members that suitable steps would to be taken to solve the issue.

The  strong  iron height barrier with a height of 2.9 meter, installed near Government  College, Khandola,  to prevent the entry of heavy cargo vehicles coming from Marcel and Sakhali, from crossing the Gaundalim Bridge has turned into accident prone zone. This is also due to the fact that there is an absence of radium lights or reflectors on it, said gram sabha members.
