MARGAO: Two scooter riders commuting on the Colva-Margao road were injured when a railway bridge height barrier fell on them after being struck by a JCB on Friday morning. The injured individuals, identified as Gabby Dias and Pascoal Gomes, were immediately rushed to the South Goa District Hospital for treatment.
According to Fatorda police, the accident occurred while the scooter riders were crossing the road en route to Colva. The collision caused significant damage to the two scooters involved in the incident.
Authorities have confirmed that no accidents have been officially registered, and no complaints have been filed thus far. The road, which was temporarily blocked following the accident, was reopened for traffic once the two scooters and the JCB were removed from the scene.
It should be noted that road infrastructure work was taking place on this road, and the JCB inadvertently struck the railway bridge height barrier during its operation.
