The familiarization flight of heli-tourism, a joint venture between Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) and Pawan Hans, took place on Tuesday, at SAG grounds Campal.
Speaking to the media, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said the commercial launch of helicopter joy rides will start on January 31, and full-fledged operations will begin from February 1.
He said that Pawan Hans is a premier helicopter company and the largest operator in India, now commencing helicopter services for joy rides in Goa.
“Goa will be one of the few States in the country to operate such a service for tourists thereby promoting high end adventure tourism,” Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said after the ride.
He said this should add to the tourism infrastructure, which the government has been trying to develop. “It was a fantastic flight and tourists will really enjoy it,” he said
The helicopter rides will connect the hinterland, coastal areas and other prominent tourist spots giving tourists breathtaking and picturesque glimpses of the State.
