justice according to law and where it is possible to do it with human consideration, said retired Justice of the Supreme Court B N Srikrishna, while delivering a lecture on Human Angle in Justice.
Justice Srikrishna was speaking at function organized to pay tribute to late Justice G D Kamat, the first Goan to be appointed as chief justice of a High Court. He said that if the human angle in rendering justice is absent then there would be dictatorship which has been seen at various times in history.
“Humanizing law and justice is a peak issue right from Ramayana and Mahabharata. Mahatma Gandhi had once said let us have Ram Rajya. What is Ram Rajya? For such rule it is necessary for the person sitting at the top to show the type of attitude like Rama so that people below him follow it and take it as a model and simplify their behavior. It helps in remodeling society and helps to remodel the nation,” Srikrishna said.
The function was organized by the G D Kamat Charitable Trust and Tuesday was the first death anniversary of G D Kamat. The trust also felicitated senior lawyers M S Usgaonkar and Jaisingh Maganlal for their contribution in the field of judiciary and law.
