PANJIM: Despite protests from locals, BJP own MLA and Church in North Goa, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) on Sunday began commercial operations of helicopter joy rides in South Goa. GTDC who had joined hands with Pawan Hans company for the helicopter joy rides had commenced from a stared hotel in South Goa.
“The operation of helicopter joy ride has commenced as government has taken a stand that the helicopter tourism will go ahead in Goa taking all necessary precautions” a senior officer from GTDC has said.
GTDC has earlier this months has commenced its operation from Panjin Campal to Aguada in Sinquerim which has attracted a massive protest not only form the opposition and locals and but also from the ruling side and supported by local church, which has led to close down its operation the very next day after a launch in Panjim.
The operation from South Goa from a stared hotel will start daily between 12 noon to 4.30 pm. The cost of the 10 minutes ride which will see panoramic view of this coastal state is fixed by the promoters at Rs 3500 per head, as per the advertisement released in the local newspapers.
