PANJIM: In motivated statements that will cause extreme hurt to the family of Father Bismarque and countless Goans who spilled out on to the streets, in solidarity with the warrior priest, singer Hema Sardesai, claiming to be a friend of Fr Bismarque said some of the people, who staged a protest on Saturday demanding justice for the late priest, were politicising his death.
Addressing a press conference in Panjim, Hema Sardesai claimed that 10 percent of the protestors were politicising Bismarque’s death. She warned against taking political mileage from the tragedy.
“Enough is enough, false show off of love is enough, the case is very much on and the truth will come out,” Sardesai said.
She said that Bismarque was her very good friend and closely associated with her n most of the protests since 2006. She said that she has been following up with the oofficials of Goa Police since day-one of his death.
“I have been in touch with the IGP; I have spoken to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar; I have also spoken to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. But, what these people have done so far?” Sardesai said, responding to statements against her on the social media.
Hema Sardesai has categorically clarified that she had never said that the death of Fr Bismarque was a suicide as reported by a section of the press.
