PANJIM: Following the expose by Herald Investigation team (HIT) last Sunday over the porous border of Goa, Director General of Police Muktesh Chander has said that he will review the entire border security of the state.
Speaking to Herald, Chander said the security is in place at all border check posts. “But still I will review it in order to tighten it,” he added.
He said that installing gates and checking all the vehicles coming inside the state and exiting cannot be possible as it will create a huge traffic chaos.
He informed that all the CCTV cameras at border check posts are working and surveillance has been done regularly.
“Only based on the specific information or suspicion, the police personnel check the vehicles and it is happening in all over other parts of the country where state borders are concerned,” Chander commented on Herald’s last Sunday report.
Herald, in its report, had exposed the chinks which exist at the borders and its security where anything, including drugs, arms, explosives etc, could be smoothly smuggled from Goa to the neighbouring states.
