PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Tuesday quashed and set asideSeptember 19, 2022, order of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa summoning Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal to appear before it to answer charges with regard to violation of The Representation of the People Act and IPC for allegedly objectionable speech during 2017 Goa Assembly elections.
The High Court has also remitted back the matter to Mapusa JMFC for fresh consideration and further action if required.
Speaking to reporters, senior Advocate Subodh Kantak said that Kejriwal had made some statements during the campaign for the Goa Assembly elections in 2017.
Some content of the speech was found objectionable by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
