High Court to hear MGP’s plea to disqualify its two ex-MLAs today

PANJIM: A writ petition filed by MGP legislator Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavalikar seeking to set aside the order of Goa Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar and to disqualify two former party MLAs will come up for hearing before the High Court of Bombay at Goa on Monday, July 19.

Dhavalikar has prayed that the judgement delivered by the Speaker dismissing his disqualification plea against Deputy Chief Minister Manohar ‘Babu’ Ajgaonkar and PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar be quashed and set aside and to disqualify the two members under Article 191 (2) read with para 2 (1) (a) the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India.  

The petitioner has urged the court to take up his write petition and adjudicate it with utmost urgency since the term of the current Assembly ends in March next year.

Meanwhile, the writ petition filed by Congress president Girish Chodankar seeking the disqualification of 10 former party MLAs will be heard before the High Court special bench on July 22.
