Higher officials scrutinise SGPDA venue

MARGAO: Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority and South Goa District Administration on Wednesday were gearing up for the Thursday’s (July 8) CZMP public hearing at SGPDA ground. Nearly 711 speakers have been finalised and more are likely to be added through spot registration. 

District Collector Ruchika Katyal, along with all the concerned officials of the District Collectorate, police department, Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority, and others checked the venue. 

Speaking to media Adv Badal Gaonkar of GCZMA legal cell said that all those registered online have been given serial numbers and accordingly a token will be allocated to them at the entrance of the venue.

“Checking of the speakers will be done twice before they are allowed to enter the main pandal, where the hearing will be conducted.  Serial numbers will be followed,” he said. 

Badal claimed that all COVID-19 SOPs would be followed at the venue. “Every speaker will be checked before entering the venue and nobody will be allowed without the mask”, he said.  

Pankaj Kumar Singh, Police Superintendent of South Goa, said that nearly 600 police personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order. “There will be nearly 450 police personals besides traffic police. All arrangements have been done. There will be the provision of segregation of people into pre-registered and on-the-spot registered speakers,” he said.
