PANJIM: In the highest single-day spike, Goa saw 348 new cases on Wednesday along with four deaths, taking the death toll to 64. There were also 173 recoveries.
Of the four deceased, three had succumbed during the night, while one breathed her last on Wednesday.
DHS said that a 71-year old woman from Khandola Marcel, with co-morbid conditions expired on Wednesday, while the 63-year-old male from Farmagudi, Ponda died the previous night. Both were admitted at ESI COVID hospital.
Another 65-year-old man from Cudnem, Bicholim, and a 79-year-old woman from Torda, Porvorim, both admitted at Goa Medical College, with co-morbid conditions expired the previous night.
Wednesday’s cases take the confirmed COVID tally to 7422 cases, while active cases have now reached 2072. The total recoveries are now 5287.
Out of 2561 samples collected, 1463 were negative, 348 were positive and 750 reports are awaited.
