CANACONA: Acting on the information provided by NGO, ‘Goenkar,’ Deputy Collector Kedar Naik stopped hill-cutting on Thursday at Cabo De Rama, Khola, which was going on since the past ten days.
The deputy collector, Mamlatdar Ramesh Gaonkar, Joint Mamlatdar Dattaraj Gauns Dessai, Secretary Rajiv Naik Gaonkar and Sarpanch Purna Nayak and PSI Velip of Cuncolim Police Station along with office bearers of the NGO including Jack Fernandes, Vikas Bhagat and Sandesh Telekar arrived at the spot and stopped the hill cutting.
The machinery used for the purpose was seized, attached by the Cuncolim police, as the activities were conducted without any permission.
A case too was registered in this regard for flouting the rules framed under TCP Act and CRZ violations.
