PANJIM: The owner of Hill Top club Stephen D’souza alias Steve has been arrested again by the Telangana police for offences booked under prevention of illegal trafficking of Narcotics Drugs and psychotropic substances (PIT NDPS) act. Steve has been arrested for the second time in a matter of three and a half months. Meanwhile, Pritesh Borkar and Edwin Nunes are presently in preventive detention in Telangana.
John Stephen D’souza, owner of the Hilltop restaurant in Anjuna was first arrested on September 21, 2022 by the Hyderabad Police for his involvement in drugs peddling. He was named amongst the ten big interstate drugs peddlers by the police.
Hyderabad Police had arrested Steve for being involved in a NDPS case registered at Osmania University Police station in Hyderabad. The arrest happened after Hyderabad Police had registered a case against a total of 174 people in the Goa Telangana drug smuggling case.
In this case, Pritesh Borkar, a suspected drug peddler was arrested by Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Division and Osmania University Police. He had revealed the names of some drug peddlers in Anjuna in his confessional before the Police. The names included Steve alias John Stephen D’Souza, Edwin Nunes, Mansoor Ahmed, Tukaram Salgaonkar, Vikas Naik, Ramesh Chavan who were from Goa.
