Hindu convention calls for ban on cow slaughter in Goa

PONDA: The ongoing All India Hindu Convention at Ponda has called for a ban on cow slaughter in Goa. “Cow protectors are making efforts to close abattoirs in Goa and stop the daily import of 30 to 40 tonnes of beef from Karnataka to Goa; however, there is no response from the Goa government, said Govansh Raksha Abhiyan president Hanumant Parab addressing a session on ‘Protection of Cows and Dharma’ at the convention.

“Despite provisions in the State budget for gaushalas, not a single rupee has been spent for the purpose. On the contrary, Goa government is spending Rs 13 crore for renovation of abattoirs. Our fight will continue till an Act to ban cow slaughter in Goa is legislated,” he added.
Gavyasiddhacharya Niranjan Kumar Verma said, “68 years ago, there were 32 crore cows in Bharat that had a population 34 crore. Now, the population of Bharat is 125 crore, while the number of cows has reduced to three crore. Since the number of cows is reducing, the economic condition of Bharat is worsening. The earth attains equilibrium due to the Panchamahabhutas (the five cosmic principles Pruthvi, Apa, Tej, Vayu and Akash). Due to the so-called development, pollution of air, water, earth etc has increased. It has been scientifically proved that only cows have the ability to purify the Panchamahabhutas. Any type of disease can be cured with the use of cow-dung, cow-urine and Panchagavya (A mixture of cow’s milk, curd, ghee, cow’s urine and cow dung).”
Dr Dilip Kumar Nathani (Pradesh Mahamantri of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha) emphasised the need to give Sanskrit the status of national language. He said, “In ancient times, only Sanskrit was the language of the entire world. Many western scholars have acknowledged ancient history and the greatness of Sanskrit. Many works of foreign researchers refer to ancient holy texts which in the Sanskrit language. In Bharat, Sanskrit should be our first language. I will provide free service for Sanskrit training classes.”
Verma felicitated Dr Narendra Patil from Nandurbar (Maharashtra), who is active in cow protection, Amrut Singh (of Animal Rescue Squad) and M Hanumant Parab (of Govansh Raksha Abhiyan, Goa).
