PANJIM: The ongoing All India Hindu Convention for Hindu Nation has demanded immediate release of Advocate Sanjeev Punalekar and his assistant Vikram Bhave, both of whom were recently arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the murder of rationalist Narendra Dabolkar.
The 8th edition of the convention, presently underway at Ramnathi in Ponda, has also sought their release with full dignity.
“The convention has protested against the arrest of National Secretary of Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad Adv Sanjeev Punalekar and Parishad’s RTI activist Vikram Bhave by the CBI. We demand their immediate release with full dignity,” the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s national spokesperson Ramesh Shinde told a press conference on Monday.
Punalekar, who had represented some of the accused in the murder case, is charged with “advising” one of the shooters to destroy the weapons while Bhave is accused of helping them reconnaissance before the crime. The Additional Sessions Court in Pune has extended their remand till June 4 for interrogation.
