History sheeter gets life sentence in murder case

PANJIM: The Mapusa Additional Sessions Court has convicted and sentenced a history sheeter to life imprisonment in a brutal murder case reported in August 2013. 

The incident dates back to August 14, 2013 when Lavu Parsekar was stabbed by an accused with a sharp weapon, leaving him profusely bleeding. The victim was accompanied by his friend Freddy Vaz at a bar in Porvorim on the fateful evening when the former was stabbed in his stomach. 

After the attack, Vaz rushed him to a nearby private hospital on his two-wheeler but the victim succumbed.  

The Porvorim police, then led by PI Manoj Mardolkar had arrested main accused from Britona, Vijay Karbotkar, then aged 34 years for the offense. Another accused was also taken into custody prior to this arrest. A charge sheet was filed under section 302 (murder) along with other IPC sections against the arrested accused.
