Hit by acute water crisis, Undir locals march out of their houses, grill PWD officials at Daag office

Threaten to protest at PWD office; complain they are forced to spend sleepless nights due to the irregular water supply despite repeated complaints to the PWD

PONDA: Fed up over the irregular supply, the residents of Undir in Bandora on Wednesday marched to the PWD office at the Daag office at Ponda and grilled the officials over the over the acute water crisis in their locality.

The villagers complained that that despite repeated complaints to the PWD officials, they are not receiving regular water supply.

The locals warned the officials that if the problem still persisted then they would stage a protest at the PWD office.

Mandavati Naik, an elderly woman from the locality said, “The villagers are forced to spend sleepless nights as they receive irregular water supply that too sometimes at midnight or as early as 4 am.”

Subhash Naik, another local said, “I am suffering from a heart ailment and for the past six months we all have been facing problems on account of the irregular water supply.” 

Shreya Naik, a housewife said, “Every time we visit the PWD office, the officials assure us to supply water through PWD tankers, but all they have been giving us are empty promises. The wells in our area are also polluted. The PWD officials assured us to solve our problem within a week, but in vain.”

Meanwhile, the PWD AE Manoj Naik said, “The water line at Undir-Bandora has been damaged due to the ongoing work on the sewerage network. The PWD labourers would repair the pipeline and try to restore water supply to Undir at the earliest.”
