According to Canacona police, Jehangir Meheboobsaab Ali, resident of Telangana was arrested and later released on a bail bond of Rs 10,000.
It may be recalled that Ali, who incidentally is also the owner of the Truck AP16 TY4593, while proceeding from Karwar to Margao direction fatally knocked motorcycle GA-09 F-2066 killing the rider, Ketan Velip, an engineer with the Irrigation Department on the spot and fled from the scene without making efforts to provide him medical help, at about 9.15 pm.
Police later traced the truck which was parked by the highway at Gulem, and were on the lookout for the driver.
