VALPOI: Blaming the youth and his family from Mauxi for forcing the girl from Hivrem to set herself on fire, Hivrem villagers on Monday launched a morcha on the Valpoi Police Station demanding that the accused be arrested immediately.
In their complaint to the Valpoi Police, the villagers and the girl’s family claimed that the youth had an affair with their village girl and forced her to take such a drastic step. They claimed that the girl’s condition is critical and threatened to come on the streets to provide justice to her.
The Valpoi Police informed the villagers that they have recorded the victim’s statement. The girl in her statement said her boyfriend and his mother fought with her and so she decided to set herself on fire.
The further investigations are underway and the case has been reported to the North Goa Collector.
