PANJIM: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority Wednesday issued a stop work order on the restaurant of BJP member from Merces Anil Hoble.
Officials said that the authority has also sent notices to other departments like the FDA, Excise, CCP, Merces panchayat not to process the application of the restaurant, which was inaugurated by none other than Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar himself.
The GCZMA had begun an inquiry after it had received complaints from three parties about alleged CRZ violations and has appointed an inquiry committee to look into it.
The Election Commission on Monday too had received a complaint that an alleged illegal bar and restaurant was inaugurated along the Ribandar-Panjim causeway road by the chief minister. The Election Commission referred the matter to the Excise department, which said that only a restaurant was being inaugurated and that no bar licence was issued. The inauguration went ahead as planned with the chief minister cutting the ribbon.
That day speaking to Herald, Anil Hoble, the owner of the restaurant said that there was no violation of any law and that what was inaugurated was only a restaurant and operations had commenced. “I have no excise licence and so I have not inaugurated any bar. Only the restaurant was inaugurated. I have started,” Hoble said.
However, speaking to Herald on Tuesday, Hoble said that he is yet to apply for the licence from FDA.
“I have not received any letter from the GCZMA. What power do they have?” Hoble initially said. When asked about the FDA licence, he said he was yet to apply for it.
“It is stopped,” Hoble later muttered after admitting that he was operating without an FDA licence.
