PANJIM: Excise Department has suspended the two excise licences issued to Sandhya Hoble, for the establishment located along the Ribandar-Panjim causeway.
The department rejected Hoble’s plea for more time to file her reply to the show cause notice issued to her last month and suspended the licences while adjourning the hearing to Jan 23.
A senior excise officer confirmed the news stating that the decision was taken on Tuesday. “There was a hearing on Tuesday when the opposite party (Hoble) sought for more time to file a reply. The plea was rejected and licences were suspended,” he said.
Excise Commissioner Amit Sathija’s action came following a complaint by Adv Aires Rodrigues that a criminal case was registered Hoble by North Goa Women Police Station. Charges were filed against the Hoble family on November 10, 2017 before the Panjim Judicial Magistrate First Class.
Rodrigues, in his complaint to Excise Department, alleged that though officials of the department were aware of the FIR, no action to revoke the excise licences was initiated. The complainant also sought deterrent action against the erring officers of the department.
