PERNEM: Home Guard Yashwant Krishna Sawant (38) attached to Anjuna police station died in a fatal accident at Torxem. Sawant was a resident of Mandrem.
According to Pernem police, accident occurred at around 8 pm on Thursday evening when Sawant and his wife Ujwala were proceeding towards Pernem on his motorcycle from Banda.
On reaching near Konkan Kinara restaurant at Torxem, a Maharashtra registered car dashed to the two-wheeler knocking couple off the vehicle. The duo suffered severe injuries.
While being taken to Goa Medical College and Hospital Bambolim, Sawant succumbed to injuries. His widow Ujwala is presently undergoing treatment. Head Constable Anand Parab conducted panchanama.
