“Whenever the position of women declines in society, that society loses its equilibrium and harmony. Hence, woman should be honoured and respected, said Sinha.
She was speaking at a gathering on Mapusa on the occasion of Gudi Padwa on Saturday morning.
“In Vedic culture, women have always been given the highest level of respect and freedom, as also protection and safety. There is a Vedic saying, ‘Where women are worshiped, there the gods dwell,’” remarked the governor.
“God has given additional and the most important responsibility to women and that is, bearing and raising children. In this context, women become more superior to men. If a woman utilizes all her energies and skills, she can definitely compete with men in every field of activity,” said Sinha.
Earlier at 5.30 am, Governor Sinha along with Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, President of Navvarsha Samiti Vaishali Falari and other samiti members took part in a ‘Shobayatra.’
