MARGAO: Village Groups of Goa (VGG) has demanded that the government honour its election promise of scrapping the Regional Plan 2021. VGG has warned that if the plan is not scrapped, the government will meet the same fate as the previous dispensation at the hands of the Goan electorate in the 2017 Assembly elections.
“It appears that that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister very conveniently suffer from selective amnesia and are trying to fool the people of Goa into launching them to power for another term despite several U-turns. Their recent press statement assuring that RP21 will be scraped if majority of the people ask for the same shows that they have conveniently forgotten their election manifesto,” said VGG.
It continued, “They said the manifesto was prepared taking the people’s aspirations into account, but failed to keep the promise after coming to power. Now after so many years of being in power, just when elections are around the corner, they want to fool the people of Goa once again.”
VGG has also alleged that the Congress had made a quick buck through large-scale arbitrary inclusions in the notified plan, and the BJP Government is following the same through the present exercise.
