MARGAO: After years of delays and disappointment for thousands of job seekers, there is finally hope as the South Goa District Collectorate resumes its recruitment for 147 vacant posts. This recruitment drive, which commenced in February 2019, originally attracted approximately 24,668 applications but encountered various setbacks that prolonged the process.
A public notice has been issued by A Ashvin Chandra, Collector of South Goa District, directed at eligible candidates who applied for group ‘C’ positions. These positions encompass roles such as Junior Stenographer, Talathi, Lower Division Clerk, and Multi-Tasking Staff, including candidates
recommended by the Employment Exchange and the Department of Sainik Welfare, across different categories.
According to the notice, the skill tests for candidates will commence on September 29, followed by a written examination for those who qualify based on their performance in the preliminary exam.
Notably, the recruitment drive initially witnessed a massive turnout, with a large number of applications submitted for the 147 vacant positions. The pool
of applicants included graduates vying for Lower Division Clerk positions.
The recruitment process faced several hurdles since its initiation in 2019, including the recent delay caused by the model election code of conduct in anticipation of elections for the Sanguem and Ponda Municipal Councils. Now, as Lok Sabha elections draw nearer, thousands of
candidates are eager to secure these positions.
