MARGAO: Margao residents expressed happiness as hot mixing work began on a road that was dug up for laying the North-Main sewerage pipeline from the South Goa District Hospital to the Old Market. The citizens had raised concerns about the unfinished road stretches, which were inconveniencing the public and student community. The issue was brought to attention by O Heraldo and the residents are relieved that their demands were taken seriously.
The concerned authorities initiated the hot mixing of the road stretches on Sunday. The Public Works Department was commended for their prompt action, considering that the stretch is perhaps Margao’s busiest. Milagres Fernandes, a resident of Fatorda, praised the efforts of the PWD and expressed gratitude to the Minister for initiating the road repair work. The road from the District Hospital to Old Market Circle had suffered multiple damages and had been opened to traffic. Numerous potholes on the stretch made for a bumpy, jarring ride and commuters were subject to dust pollution as well.
The conditions of the road had deteriorated after the sewage pipeline replacement, with numerous potholes posing serious risk of accidents. The hot mixing work is expected to resolve this issue and ensure a smoother and safer road for the public.
