VASCO: Hot-mixing of F L Gomes Road was launched by Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida on Friday.
Almeida said that the long pending demand to undertake F L Gomes Road has been initiated by utilising Rs 2.4 crore funds.
Speaking to the reporters, Vasco MLA Almeida stated that half of the works have been already completed as the dividers are being completed, gutters and drains are done and only hot-mixing part was pending.
He said, “These works were tendered twice but no one was willing to bid till we finally got a contractor. People had faced a lot of inconvenience even as houses would vibrate with the movement of heavy vehicles, “Almeida added.
The MLA said that Vascokars wanted shacks at Baina Beach and the MMC Chief Officer had no rights to demolish the shacks without notice.
He also said that the aquaculture project in Baina Lake would be one of its kind in the entire State.
He said that Baina Lake is a very old lake and belongs to the Comunidade and they have given us the NOC to develop the lake. We have built a wall and now we want to develop aquaculture in the lake. We have also spent around Rs 1 crore on sewerage connection to the houses there. We thought of developing aquaculture to breed fish which will eat grass and moss.
“There is a lot of grass in the lake and this being a trial project we have involved Directorate of Fisheries and Fishery Survey of India and many other departments,” said Almeida
Furthermore, MLA said that the Power Minister Nilesh Cabral had assured him of taking up underground cabling soon.
“This will take around two years but it will definitely happen. We may complete the underground cabling works in the next two years, the MLA added.
