MAPUSA: A hotel employee was arrested by the Calangute after when he attempted to murder his business partner by slitting his throat at the Aguada Helipad on Wednesday
While the alleged accused Amit Dhawan is arrested by the police in the attempt to murder case, the victim Satish Kumar, 42, a native of Hyderabad is battling for his life at the Goa Medical College.
Police say that the incident occurred on Wednesday at around 1.30 pm at Helipad Aguada in Candolim when the duo were sitting in a car and a quarrel between them led to Dhawan attacking Kumar with a knife and slitting his throat. He then fled the site leaving the bleeding victim at the helipad site.
“On receiving information that one person has been stabbed at the Aguada helipad at Candolim, the police team rushed to the site, chased the accused Amit Dhawan and finally apprehended him at Porvorim as he was trying to flee with his car after committing the heinous crime,” said PI Dattaguru Sawant.
Police stated that money was the motive that led to the stabbing and added that the victim was residing in Goa for the last ten years and was well known to the accused. Police also stated that the accused is an employee of a resort while the victim was providing bookings to the resort on commission basis.
An offence under section 307 IPC has been registered against the accused and the murder weapon and the vehicle belonging to the accuse bearing registration No GA 03 Y 3374 has been seized by police. PSI Kiran Naik, head constable Vidyanand Amonkar, constables Ganpat Tiloji, Amir Garad, Gaurav Chodankar and Sanjot Kerkar were part of the team that nabbed the accused.
