Hotels, restaurants and bars likely to be shut till March 31

PANJIM: The hotels, restaurants and bars across the State are likely to be shut from Sunday till March 31 in view of coronavirus pandemic. 

All Goa Hotel and Restaurant Association has called upon all its members and non-members to close their units to ensure safety of its employees and public in large as a measure of social distancing issued by the State government in wake of COVID-19. 

Speaking to HERALD, Association president Gaurish Dhond said that an appeal has been made by the association to its members and also non-members to shut their establishments as a measure to fight against COVID-19, till March 31. 

“In such pandemic, it becomes our duty to act responsibly and support the government in the cause to fight against the deadly virus. It is upto the owners of the establishments whether to shut or not. They have to ensure safety of their staffers also,” Dhond said. 

The president informed that in support of Janata Curfew call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 22, all the hotels and restaurants will remain shut on Sunday. 

The major markets including that in Panjim, Margao and Mapusa will remain shut on Sunday in support of Janata Curfew.
