“In view of the rising cases, it is my sincere appeal to the people of the state of Goa we all need to follow the SOPs that have been already announced by the government. Wearing of mask is mandatory & social distancing needs to be strictly followed. To keep the virus under control, it is up to us to follow the norms of the government,” Rane tweeted on Sunday a day after Goa recorded highest 154 daily spike after a gap of nearly five months.

“It is also my appeal to the tourists coming to the State to adhere to SOPs of the Government. Strict action will be taken against those flouting the norms,” he posted in his following tweet.

Goa has been recording surge in cases while also several tourists are descending and weddings taking place. The State also witnessed elections to municipal council wards and the Corporation of City of Panaji. It has been noticed that all safety norms are being thrown to the wind prompting the government to urge people to adhere to the guidelines.

Rane further said the government will also be taking a strict view on the functioning of restaurants, hotels and any place considered as an entertainment zone, to ensure that all the people coming there are following strict protocols laid by state government.

“Wearing of mask is mandatory & social distancing is a must. Failing to do so, the health authorities will take strict action.

In case any restaurant/hotel/institution is violating the rules, kindly WhatsApp me on my number or email me on officeofhealthministergoa@gmail.com, necessary action will be initiated by the government of Goa,” he said.

In view of the rising cases in Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka and other States, the minister said Goa needs to be careful and every citizen needs to be vigilant.

“We have made testing accessible to all the citizens & are working on doing our best to keep COVID under control. All we need from the citizens of Goa and those coming to the State is their support in ensuring the same,” he said.
