VALPOI: A house collapsed due to heavy rains and the gusty winds at Gawane in Valpoi, early morning on Friday.
Affected house owner Shivanand Harijan said that he and his family members were sleeping in the house when it collapsed. However, they escaped unhurt as they were sheltered under the cupboards in the house. Only his younger daughter suffered minor injury.
“I built the house only last year, but it collapsed this year due to heavy rains and gusty winds. Now, I don’t know where to shelter my family. I am totally helpless,” Harijan said.
Khotodem Talathi has conducted an inspection of the collapsed house and would submit a report to the Sattari Mamlatdar.
Local panch Santosh Gaonkar, who visited the affected family, said, “Our Khotodem Panchayat will help the Harijan family financially. I will also request our MLA and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to help the family.”
