The Goa Legislative Assembly on Wednesday dropped the question on the suicide of former Merces sarpanch Prakash Naik from being raised on the floor of the House. The question that figured in the Calling Attention Motion was ‘disallowed’ by Speaker Rajesh Patnekar citing that matter is sub-judice.
“The question is disallowed. It would be prejudice to discuss the issue at the time when hearing in the case is slated for today (Wednesday),” Patnekar said. He didn’t change his decision despite MGP MLA Ramkrishna Dhavalikar raising a point of order. Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, and legislators Vijai Sardesai, Jayesh Salgaonkar, Vinoda Paliencar, Rohan Khaunte, Ramkrishna Dhavalikar and Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco had called the attention of the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on the issue.
