House gutted at Karaswada

MAPUSA: A house owned by Malikchan Bepari, a resident of Karaswada was partially gutted in fire on late Sunday evening. The owner claimed a loss of around Rs two lakh.

According to information obtained from Mapusa Fire Station, the control room received a call at 7.05 pm informing about the incident. The station team quickly responded to the information and rushed to the spot. After reaching the fire personnel team began the operation, however since the fire was major, reinforcement from Pilerne Fire Station was also called and after fighting for almost one hour, the team managed to douse the fire completely.

The owner claimed a loss of around Rs 2 lakh while the fire fighting team managed to save property worth Rs 3 lakh. In the fire, furniture such as the bed and cupboard, clothes and other household items were gutted.

The owner said that after the fan was put on, a spark came out which led the fire to spread. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit. 

However, the fire station in charge will be writing to the Electricity Department and Mapusa Police to ascertain the exact cause of fire.
